Thursday would have been the start of the 20th year of San Diego service by the DSC at 101.5 KGB. That changed January 4 when the announcement by the station the Dave, Shelly, and Chainsaw program was no more.
A vast hole in morning program opened up and the market hasn’t been the same since.
In the months since, long time loyal fans have migrated over the dial, or turned their morning source skywards to satellite — or listening to podcasts.
While the ratings shuffle settles out there hasn’t been a real clear home for the DSC fans to land.
What is in store? Both sides of the camp have been silent. Clear Channel and KGB started to look for a morning show but as April knocks on the door, no announcement has been made. Like wise, Dave Rickards, Shelly Dunn, Cookie ‘Chainsaw’ Randolph have made no official announcement outside of a few Facebook postings by all.
Radio rumbles continue; but this remains Stay Tuned.

As crazy as the FM side has been with Jeff and Jer, Mike Halloran, and DSC, the brother band has had its share of troubles.
Scott and BR, once the morning staple at XX Sports Radio remain off air.
Officially, Scott and BR remain part of the 1090 XX Sports Radio team; but after a few weeks, how come the problem hasn’t been resolved? During one of the most entertaining sports event of March Madness, and the start of baseball, the flagship station for the Padres remains void of their flagship show.
As the days pass, the return of the the team to the airwaves grows less. Street buzz indicates that they are headed to the FM side at KGB ….. Stay Tuned.

That was KOGO San Diego’s Roger Hedgecock giving a speech in the tiny desert town of Searchlight, Nevada, on Saturday. He was part of the group that spoke about the upcoming fall election. Former Alaska governor Sara Palin was the keynote. In all, about 200 folks bused it from San Diego to a small Nevada junction in the road near Nipton, California.
Roger’s syndicated show is also on XM satellite radio, channel 158 at 3 p.m. Pacific.

Note to Jerry Cesek at JeffandJer.com. It’s nice to receive an update about the 5 Of The Best Things On Earth At The Moment; your loyal San Diego fan base is more interested in the question of your team’s return to radio … just an update would be nice about the situation, Jer…

So who is really number one in the ratings race? Last week, the 12-plus numbers for February were released (a good source is AllAccess.com or RadioDailyNews.com).
For San Diego, 2,836,100 is the population count the service uses in the ratings wand. The 2.8 million folks makes our town — the 17th market in the U.S.
Move over to television cable news. Who has move viewers than listeners? Cable or good ole radio?
In the latest week, cable television news had 2,330,000 — nationwide. Fox News on top with 1,383,000 viewers, CNN 468,000 viewers, and MSNBC 479,000 viewers.

It’s better than going to hooters — it’s live and on the ‘net 24-7. Molly the box owl has sizeable numbers and is proof that the medium of ‘net broadcasting and viewing and/or listening are coming together.
See Molly and her four chicks — with one to go — at The Owl Box.
