MEC’s ESPN Radio Not Making Payroll

18 May 2010

ESPN Radio, FM 98.7 98.9 and AM 800, owned by MEC, has not made payroll since March. The stations broadcast to the San Diego / Tijuana area. FM 98.7 98.9 is the San Diego home for Angels baseball.

AllAccess.com reports the sales staff left a few weeks back.

ESPN 98.9 is in English, and AM 800 is ESPN Deportes. The transmitters are in Mexico.

ESPN Radio, based on the east coast, could pull programming from the stations due to non-payment. MEC has a long term contract for ESPN Deportes in Mexico and could lose that as well.

The San Diego offices of MEC, on 10th Avenue, has no staff at the present time. The company has not returned phone calls from the U.S. or the Mexico offices. There are about six workers on staff on both sides of the border.

Mario E. Mayans C. is listed as the President / CEO of MEC Network, Inc.

MEC Network. ( More Execuses Coming) Once again, Mario Mayans fails to pay his employees. At first they were suppose to be paid on the 10th of May. The latest execuse is that the checks have crossed the border and are now waiting for funds to be deposited. In the mean time, bills are very past due, and late fees most likely are added on. Just another day. Someone buy this radio station.
