KOGO‘s Steve Yuhas and LaDona Harvey were placed on the USS Midway for Sunday night’s Fourth Of July celebration.

Also noted was KyXy‘s county-wide “network” of displays. A fun time for those who saw — and heard the radio compliment of music. (Fireworks photo by Todd Armstrong on deck of the USS Midway.

If plans go right — and they should — one week from today, Dave Rickards and his band should be back together and on the airwaves in San Diego. Dave has been silent on his Facebook page, but the next four days could be interesting as the events play out.

Also noted: CBS Radio has made much noise in the broker world about selling some of their stations, with San Diego, Riverside, and other areas. Deals to spin off stations were expected by now, but the funding markets — the financial companies to borrow large amounts of money — took a back-track recently. Those deals may exist on paper only as necessary bankers find the funds for the deal to be made.

In other words, stay tuned ……

“My life was ‘Jeff and Jer.’ That came first. I did everything on behalf of the show,” Sablan said, of the radio relationship that began when Jeff Detrow and Jerry Cesak’s chatty morning-drive show made its debut on Y95 FM in 1988. “But when you wake up in the morning and all you have is yourself, you figure out what’s important. And what’s important to me is teaching children and giving back to the community.”
