Matt and Mark’s Groovy Trip on KKSM

7 July 2010

Mark Gleason writes about a project he has been doing with his son. “It’s called “Matt and Mark’s Groovy Trip” and it’s on KKSM AM 1320-Palomar College Radio on Tuesdays from 9am-12noon.

Matt is 19 and is a student in the radio and TV department at Palomar College. I would consider myself an “San Diego Radio veteran”. I worked at KCBQ, B-100 and 91X from 1975-1979, as well as KAMP in El Centro from 1976-1978. I then returned to the airwaves in 1991 to work at Art Astor’s KOW-FM and KSPA in Escondido, and then KJQY (Sunny 103.7)-KRMX (Rock Mix 103.7)-KPLN (103.7 The Planet) from 1991-2004. I also did some work on KYXY (Kicksy 96.5) when they became housed in the same building.

“Matt is a big fan of the “Classic Vinyl” channel on Sirius/XM where I like to listen to the “70s on 7″ channel. So on the “Groovy Trip” he plays the Classic Rock from the 60s and 70s and I play the Top 40 hits from the 70s. We mix in interesting tidbits about the songs, as well.

The show is heard on the air at 1320 AM and info is available at www.palomarcollegeradio.com.
