Ben Higgins begins his second week at XTRA Sports 1360 this week. He’s in the noon to 3 p.m. slot right before Josh Rosenberg and Jeff Dotseth. Ben, known for his work with the Padres broadcast team on KOGO is also on KGTV-TV 10.
This gives XTRA Sports a solid programming block in the afternoon of local programming.

She wrote that the last 36-hours she’ll could be “drunk on power, on two hours sleep. Drinking coffee by the gallon.” LaDona Harvey filled in at KFI-AM in Los Angeles Sunday night and drove back to San Diego county. She is also part of the morning show with Chip Franklin at KOGO.
Sounding very confident behind the microphone this is the first time an issue-talk show featuring a lady’s view has been on the 50,000 watt station in along time.
Job well done, LaDona. Congratulations, hope to hear you there filling in again very soon — but please keep your roots here in San Diego.

This week it’ll take shape, and it’ll be unveiled on Saturday, August 28, 2010. Helping to preserve some San Diego radio history, the KCBQ Monument will start being built this week on Mission Gorge Road in the 9400 block. More on this milestone tomorrow in SDRadio.

Last Tuesday, Dr. Laura Schlessinger, said the n-word several times during her broadcast. Her afternoon program is heard on KOGO-AM in San Diego.
The word in question was not “nice, neighborly,” nor not timely. No question it was wrong, and stations coast-to-coast were caught off guard during the live show.
She told the audience last Wednesday, “I articulated the N-word all the way out — more than one time,” Dr. Laura said in comments from the opening of her radio show that she posted on her site. “And that was wrong. I’ll say it again — that was wrong.”
She said she “realized I had made a horrible mistake, and was so upset, I could not finish the show.” Her show last Tuesday was ended with a previously aired segment.
This is not the first time the good doctor used profanity during her broadcast. Several years ago, she used the s-word to describe a pile during a call.
Recordings of her brain-farb are available on the internet; but really, the only n-word should be “neighbor”.

Last week Star 94.1‘s AJ In The Morning show spun the recent airline attendant event in New York.
Delana Bennett writes: “”AJ in the Morning” crew at Star 94.1 San Diego invited listeners to “Vent Like the Jet Blue Guy.” Anyone who came by the radio station got a chance to rant about their job on the air before being handed two (root)beers and jumping onto a giant inflatable slide.”
She added, “The bit attracted local and (possible) national media attention and good times were had by all.”
Nicely done! Perhaps Dr. Laura needs here own chute ride before shooting off her mouth …..
