Welcome to SDRadio for Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Thank you for stopping by!

The good doctor will check out at the end of the year. You’ll read and hear a lot how Dr. Laura Schlessinger decided to end her radio career for her first amendment rights. However, what won’t be talked about is how key advertisers pulled their support from the show.
Advertiser support was one major factor in the decision for Dr. Laura to end her successful (and sometimes quirky) run.
KOGO is the San Diego home for Dr. Laura. Until the end of the year, the programming staff at the station will be looking to fill the mid-day slot.
KFWB-AM in Los Angeles is her flagship station. When she moved from KFI-AM last year, KFWB was essentially retooled for her. While too early to tell, it is obvious that a new mid-day host will be needed at her soon-to-be former stations.
Stay Tuned

Chris Cantore had a great afternoon guest yesterday. The afternoon KPRI host had San Diego’s own Steve Poltz on air in the afternoon.
Steve is a headliner at today’s concert at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps’ Tide Pool Plaza. See KPRI FM‘s web page for more info.
Noted: see the Live From Studio I series of guests that include Sara Bareilles, and Shawn Mullens.

The ground was broke yesterday for the KCBQ Remembered monument.
By the weekend, the framework will be up and the next step is to add the top and the sides with all the names of the historic top 40 radio days from 1958 to 1978.
The location is on Mission Gorge Road in Santee, next to the Kohl’s parking lot.
The monument will be officially unveiled on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 1170 AM — or 12:10 p.m. The public is invited to this event. As it will be warm, the entire event will be about 40-minutes. Please see KCBQRemembered.net for the latest happenings.
There will be photos daily of the construction of the monument.
