Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? When Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw were at Clear Channel Communications in San Diego, their annual Best of CDs and DVDs served one purpose:

Fund the annual money given away during the 12 Days of Christmas and other events. Dave and the crew regular gave $1,000 to San Diego county residents who had a need. They didn’t have to be listeners either, just the purpose was clear from Dave: For twenty years we’ve been telling our customers, if you buy this, we will give it back to the community.

Today, the money is setting at the former station group, held hostage to a relationship that went sour after nearly 20 years of dedicated service. It’s a “No Brainer” that the “DJs Are The Heroes” but is the money being spent at Clear Channel’s discretion?

One of the teasers was that the DSC has raised millions and never kept a penny. Perhaps they should have.

So who is watching the watchmen?

Stay Tuned.

A trip to the Bay Area confirmed what I suspected: The San Diego Padres get no respect outside of our area. Flagship station KNBR boasted last Thursday that the Padres were done and the Giants would rally this weekend and be in first place by today. Last week, San Francisco Giants were 2 1/2 games back. Today, they are six. That worked out really well for them. It’s our secret; but the story is there to be told. The Padres are for real; and they are playing fine baseball. For those local doomsayers predicting a collapse before October ball begins. Not going to happen.

Noted: It’ll be good to hear legendary Vin Scully next year on the radio. He’ll be 83 years old, and calling baseball for the record 63 years. Vin paints a picture when calling games on the radio (first three innings) and television (for nine innings). Doesn’t make me a Dodger-blue fan; but it’s just fine ole fashioned baseball stories.

Looks like Clear Channel can add thievery to their long list of bad decision making.
