Broadcast Company of the Americas is feeling the effects of the storm from September. Over one month ago, John Lynch was dismissed as the Captain of the company and replaced with Larry Patrick as CEO.

Yesterday, the company announced with (now former) partner Thoma Bravo) they were, essentially, splitting.

BCA has some heavy seas to steer through but there is a star to guide her by. The economy, while not chugging very fast, is picking up. The crew remains tough, and the hull, while beaten about, still is very sea worthy.

Noted: Pat Osborne is expected to be named GSM for the combined sales team of Compass Radio/KPRI and BCA/XX1090, Walrus FM, and ESPN 1700.

Stay tuned ….

Meanwhile over at LMA, they are staying the same course. As reported from the private equity firm, Magic 92.5, Z-90, and 91X are gearing up for a great kick off to 2011 — after all, the new year is on the horizon.

Tommy Sablan has been really busy — especially for an out-of-work producer. Tommy shared a link for the special he is producing at KUSI-TV. See it here.

Also, Tommy is going to be on 1210 KPRZ-AM. Tommy writes at his blog at Jeff and Jer about an email and an invite from John: “He wrote that he started a new show called RECOVERY RADIO which is all about sobriety. He read I was working on the KUSI special Oxy: What Your Kids Aren’t Telling You and asked if I would go on to talk about my story and how I decided to be clean from everything.

Immediately, after reading his message, I was excited and proud about being asked to be his guest. It was an excitement that I haven’t felt in a very long time. 28 years to be exact.

A very long time ago, I used to go on the radio after Shotgun Tom on KBEST 95 late Saturday nights. I would get so excited and nervous, that I would call my mom to make sure she had the radio on so she wouldn’t miss me saying my first few words and I would actually do jumping jacks in the control room, because I was so excited and needed to just calm down. It’s a cool feeling when it’s new to you to be so incredibly appreciative and enthusiastic about what you’re doing.”

Read it all at Tommy’s blog from the link above.

Here’s another timeless photo from KCBQ. The station, located in Santee, was once thought as “far away” from downtown San Diego. Now, the trip can be made in about 20-minutes during good traffic conditions.

There’s some old nostalgia in this photo besides the legendary sign — see the Jack-in-a-box sign in the background!!
