FM94/9 radio Morning Team, The Mikey Show, is set to host their 2010 “MikeyThon”, a 28 straight hour, commercial free, version of The Mikey Show, beginning at 6:00 am this today at the FM 94/9 broadcast studios. The continuous 28 hour broadcast raises money for Rady Children’s Hospital and brings awareness to their Autism Discovery Institute.
Mike Esparza, was inspired to give back to Rady’s Autism Discovery Institute after his now four year old son, Jake, was born with Autism. Over the last three years Mikey Show listeners have helped to raise over $65,000 to help Rady’s in their quest for finding better treatment protocol and, eventually, a cure for Autism.
Among this year’s highlights, several Rady Children’s Hospital patients and their parents will share their experiences with the FM 94/9 listeners. These patients and parents are just some of the tens of thousands of children who have benefited from the cutting-edge research and treatment being done every day at Rady’s Autism Discovery Institute.
In addition to patient stories The Mikey Show will be inviting listeners to join them atop the studio parking structure at 1615 Murray Canyon Road San Diego 92108 where there will be lots of public entertainment including batting contests, car parade, a chicken wing eating contest, wrestling match, a dance contest and several movie screenings.
“This is so personal for me and our Mikey Show Family. We hope to positively impact other families who have children with Autism” said Mikey.
Listeners who want to help Rady Children’s Hospital raise money for their Autism Discovery Institute, Jake Esparza and other children like him can pledge a donation by stopping by The Mikey Show 28-hour Broadcast or by visiting the FM 94/9 website at www.fm949sd.com
