Rev. Larry “Preacherman” Thompson posted on the SDGospel‘s web site. “KURS 1040AM (San Diego’s Gospel Radio Station) gospel programming is currently on hold.
“My personal thanks to our entire staff, supporters, advertisers and listeners for the diligent efforts which were demonstrated over the past days. We did our best and paid in good faith with the promise to submit additional payment – obviously that wasn’t enough.
“The owner of the station has locked our staff out and changed the format. I have made contact with my attorney and will keep you posted on the progress.
“I am deeply sorry for this temporary delay, but I assure you, that we will return with Gospel Radio in San Diego. What the devil meant for harm, God meant for good. Any commercial or brokered time that is due to any of our client’s will be made good.”
Stay Tuned

Last Friday, it was the party to be at as KyXy‘s Jeff and Jer and the Showgram had a non-stop party. The crowded event was invitation only and packed the house. Anita Bartram photographed the event, and the KyXy.com‘s web site has the site and sounds of the event!
Also coming up in May is Jerry’s passion for animals: “This is my first event for HSUS (Humane Society of the United States) and I SO want you to be there!!!! In fact, the show comes with the famous “Jer-an-tee”: If you don’t think it was worth your fifteen bucks, I’ll pay you back. Honest.
Questions? Tickets? All right here on our “The Bond” website: http://www.thebondsd.com
“If you’ve ever loved an animal, come celebrate The Bond”.

The Pala Band of Mission Indians are the proud owner of a local radio station KOPA-FM. The station, located in North County, is a 100 watt station that serves the Pala area. It brings a local radio station geared for residents — and the prime mission is to be an emergency information center to give pertinent facts to the listeners.
The North County areas terrain and geographic location can make reception of San Diego County station emergency broadcast stations, especially at night, troublesome. Having a local broadcast resource gives the community one place to tune into.
John Fox, a radio veteran in San Diego and Southern California, is the station manager — and currently the sole employee of Rez Radio. As the GM, John has set up a broadcast day that includes “Native America Calling” – live national call-in talk with host Harlan McKosato and “Pala Today” – local news, sports, business, weather and features with host KopaJohn.
Plus, old time radio programs are broadcast, and local San Diego produced programs. Outside of regular programming, music fills the stereo transmitter with classic songs from country to current hits can be heard. (Picture: Rez Radio‘s broadcast equipment. It is about the same size as a small refrigerator and consumes about the same amount of power. A transmission line feeds the 60-foot antenna from here. The FM station is “directional” to protect XETRA-FM 91.1 and KUSC-FM 91.5.)
Rez Radio is heard 24-hours a day. It can be heard from the 15/76 interchange east to about the Pauma Valley country store. Last Friday, Res Radio offered softball action live from the next door ball fields. John indicated that the community radio will offer more “specialty” program in the near future as well.
