XX 1090 Sports Radio has announced a 2nd grade class from the Valley Center Primary School is the winner of the ‘Read with a Pro’ contest. As a reward the class will be visited by Padres third baseman Chase Headley at 10 a.m., on Tuesday.
To encourage the love of reading, San Diego schools grades 2-5 competed for five weeks to see which class could read the most books for the chance to ‘Read with a Pro’ and attend an upcoming Padres game. The winning students in Bill Kvitli’s (Kah-VIT-Lee) 2nd grade class read 1,551 books over the five week period to earn the reward.
The Read with a Pro program is designed to motivate children of all ages to make reading a regular part of their daily lives.
“Read with a Pro is a fun way to get students excited about reading,” said County Superintendent of Schools Randy Ward. “We appreciate the support of Mission Federal Credit Union, which is a great partner for local schools.”
