Jer from the Jeff and Jer Showgram at KyXy writes: “We just got the pictures and wanted to share this with you… us with His Holiness. As Buddhists, meeting him, particularly at his home in Dharamshala, India still seems so surreal. We are remarkably blessed. (I’m surprised Pam and I look even remotely presentable considering the emotions of the event). It was he who took our hands for the photo. Unbelievable.”

Jerry was joined with his wife Pam.

New; Update:=: Les Moonves, head of CBS Corporation, apparently has changed his mind about selling some, if not all, of the radio division. He revealed this revelation at the Nomura Media Summit in New York. “The stations’ performance has improved greatly. There has been some activity out there, but we’re not…we’re not putting our heads in the sand and saying, oh, things are great and they’re never going to be bad again. But unless the prices are going to be stronger, we’re not interested in selling them now. It would have to be a really, really strong price. And there’s nothing that fits that profile,” said Moonves.

Moonves was generous in his praise of Dan Mason, CBS Radio president/ceo. “The Radio Division is in such great shape under their new management – not really new management, they’ve been there for a few years now – but we’re finding no great desire to sell them unless the price is pretty high,” Moonves concluded. Last week’s brush fire in Lakeside was a bit too close to the KECR-AM 910 radio site. David Manzi shared this picture of a CDF plane making a run over the fire area — above the broadcast towers. (Thanks David!)

Congratulations to Ruth 66 who is not sucking the butt of nicotine anymore! She marks her third month of not picking up the morning drag. Nina is heard on DSC on Jack FM at 100.7.

Flash Back Friday:

XETV and XETW’s transmitter site in Tijuana, Baja California. The broadcast site — and studios — for XETV Channel 6, and XETW Channel 12. The broadcast site and the surrounding area is also home to most of Tijuana’s FM and TV stations.

KFMB-FM broadcasts from atop of Mount Soledad in San Diego. The antenna is near KFMB-TV/HD. It is also the home of San Diego FMs FM 94/9, KiFM and KyXy. Across the street and north of the antenna is KGTV and home of other FM stations.

Today, known as Jack FM the station broadcasts at 30,000 watts, and the antenna is about 830 feet above sea level — and the ocean is just a bit west of the antenna! It is the radio home of DSC, JM on the FM in the PM, and the lovely and talented Sara!
