Thank you for making SDRadio part of your broadcast day.

Today, one of the most magical moments in radio happens. The Jeff and Jer Showgram’s Tommy Sablan and his band of hoodlums will do their annual “breaking and entering” “somewhere” in San Diego county.

The annual event helps one family out, and this year’s recipients will be overwhelmed: a complete home makeover, including painting, cabinets, carpet, and other items. Plus, the “hoodlums” will leave no corner unkempt. The Christmas tree will be filled with over-flowing presents and stockings hung with gifts galore.

Every year and every tear, Tommy out does the year before, all for the satisfaction of paying it forward.

The event will be broadcast on KyXy‘s Showgram at about 7:30 a.m.

With Roger Hedgecock on the move to 760 KFMB on January 2, where is Rick Roberts? While his show airs live on the radio in the afternoon drive, Roberts has been missing from the broadcast studio for sometime. He has been, reportedly, broadcasting from his home in Oklahoma.

Roger’s national show moves dial and home station location when the election year starts. Presently, LaDona Harvey airs from 2 to 6 p.m. on KOGO-FM. KOGO-AM 600 splits programming at 3 p.m. for Roger’s show until the end of the year.

In both cases, the stations are not promoting their present afternoon drive time: Roberts promos in KFMB newsletters have been missing. Likewise, Roger’s events are missing from KOGOs.

In all, a dial turn for Roger fans, and Rick is expected to exit 760 KFMB at the end of the month.

Last Friday, fans of fm 94/9 were hearing street whispers of “stay tuned” at 5 p.m. for an important announcement. Sure enough, at about that time, Garett Michaels was playing music suggesting a fork in the road about the music.

Having a bit of fun, but spelling it out, “It is about the music” and he told the captive audience that fm 94/9 wasn’t going anywhere as he kicked off the 5 p.m. hour.

Rumors fly weekly of station changes for a majority of San Diego stations to garner a higher share. In this case, Garett had some fun, and reemphasized the station is here to stay. In a Stay Tuned medium, radio changes are marked monthly with PPM ….

IHeartRadio has added 570 Cumulas stations to its line up. The popular radio application for smart phones, and computers has also started to shut out non-compliant wi-fi radios.

A third party service, called “Reciva” has indicated a number of Clear Channel stations on IHeartRadio, are no longer available. The Reciva iRadio app allows you to listen to thousands of radio stations from all over the globe. This from local AM/FM stations to DAB, HD Radio, satellite and internet only streams. A free app is available on “devices” using WiFi or mobile phone data.

To drive ears to their service, Clear Channel, the IHeartRadio owner, has been stopping Reciva and other third part companies from accessing their broadcast outside of CCU app. CBS Radio, also prevents third party applications as well.

WiFi table radios generally use Reciva as their clearing house as the companies databases are used as the “tuner”. There is a solution in the works if Clear Channel offers their own service for WiFi radios; but it is uncertain if present models would be able to utilize this.

Stay Tuned.

The past two months have, frankly, been rough for me, personally. I miss my brother Ed who left in October, and now, those who know about Buddy Bark Bark, his time for the Rainbow Bridge is drawing near. He is my second rescue dog — who rescued me after Elvis — tells me his time is near. No matter if it one month or one year, Buddy will be well taken care of until it is his time to cross the Rainbow Bridge

So please excuse my tardiness last week as I make my buddy, Buddy Bark Bark, as comfortable as possible. Meanwhile, Jack Rylee, the long-tailed four pawed one, is taking me out to explore the peaks and valleys of San Diego and beyond.
