The GelderHead Thought Of The Day: You're not obligated to win. You're obligated to keep trying to do the best you can every day. ~ Marian Wright Edelman Welcome to SDRadio for Wednesday! Days away until Christmas Day. ~~ 760_robertsSan Diego based Warrior Foundation's Radio-thon takes in more than $316,000 in local donations. 760 KFMB radio’s 5th Annual Warrior Foundation “Home for the Holidays” Radio-thon raised more than $300,000 to aid injured and disabled active soldiers. This amount was given in part to the generosity and kindness of listeners and loyal advertisers. The broadcast was chaired by morning host Rick Roberts founder of the Warrior Foundation and morning host of the station. This year’s live, four-hour on-air event, was focused on raising money to fund the transportation costs of roughly 250 military heroes who otherwise would not have been able to travel home for the holidays. This year’s total is greater than any amount raised during the five-year existence of the foundation and the radio-thon. The Warrior Foundation through the Navy League is a Non-Profit 501c3. All funds go directly to support these troops. The Warrior Foundation was created in 2005 after Rick told the story on the air about some members of the military who were recovering at Balboa Naval Hospital and needed help. KFMB listeners responded immediately by donating $60,000 dollars. The creation of the Warrior Foundation was the result of that original effort. The Rick Roberts Show airs live, Monday through Friday from 5am-9am on Talk Radio 760 KFMB. ~~
