Airwaves Missing: Jeff and Jer Showgram Day 166 | DSC Day 30 | Halloran Day 30
Mikey rejoined the San Diego airwaves yesterday morning — and kicked off his fm 94/9. He was talked about leaving Rock 105.3 and the lack of communication he may have caused, but by the time the dust settled, Mikey and his former crew parted ways.
Mikey moved on to fm 94/9 while his former team of Sky, Boston Rob, Eddie and Ashlee remained at the Rock.
Mikey told his 94.9 audience Monday that he had to assemble a new crew and after 45 days off the air — they premiered yesterday morning.
Mikey writes on his blog site: “I have a new station home, new bosses, new show members and a new lease on life. God sustained me. God has remained faithful even when I have been disobedient. I’m ready to start a new chapter in my life.
“I learned so much from my past experience. I made mistakes that I will try to rectify. I did some things right that I will try to duplicate.”
Mikey concluded, “I’m glad to be back.”

It’s hard to receive in most areas, but KSIQ has launched. The 25,000 watt station was heard playing AC music — and reception is really iffy in some areas.
In fact, I received the station better in Rancho Carmel today than in El Cajon. The FCC maps suggests that the station will serve southbay San Diego “better” than those areas north of I-8.
The picture of the tower was taken last month. The hill on the right side is west (towards San Diego) from the transmitter.
Still to come is the booster (or repeater) station on Mount San Miguel. It is expected to fill in areas along the 8-corridor with limited reception north. There is a station at the same frequency in Riverside County. Reception in the 78 corridor will pick KRQB-FM from San Jacinto.

Hear that?: KEARTH 101 from Los Angeles has 2.8 million listeners in the LA/Orange County area. That’s more than the total listenership of San Diego — all 43 stations that are rated. San Diego’s base is 2.5 million, Los Angeles’ base is over 10 million potential listeners.
